Tuesday, April 17, 2001: The next stop along the High Road was a very old chapel (built between 1814 and 1816) in the town of Chimayo.  The chapel is reportedly built on healing ground, and there is a small room off the altar where you can dig some of this "holy dirt" to take with you.
The Santuario's altar, featuring the "miraculous" Crucifix of Our Lord of Esquipulas.
One of five "reredos" inside the chapel.
Mark and Matthew outside the chapel.  Matthew slept through the entire visit.
A painting of the chapel by Sonni Cooper.
The chapel grounds are enclosed by an adobe wall.
